Androgyny

Grace Jones
Tilda Swindon

I've currently been attracted to androgyny, well not the sexual side as such but the aesthetic and style of its nature. I love the aspect of having masculine and feminine characteristics within dress and garment design as well. The way we dress says many things about you from personality to preferences and even mood, in which the androgyny way of dress to me speaks power and rebel.  By this I feel that there is less boundaries in having the control of your external image and expressing a voice through dress. Society's definition of what is 'acceptable' has also changed in which the androgynous style is often misinterpreted

"Androgynous today means that men and women have the same attitude towards what they want to wear"  - Giorgio Armani

Project Runway All Stars S2 - challenge 5

Emilio Sosa
Althea Harper
Anthony Ryan

In project runway all stars season two the designers were given a challenge to create an avant-garde, androgynous look for a male and female model. These are my three favorite looks from the episode, well actually they are the ones that seemed to have nailed the idea of androgyny compared to the other designers.
I would love to have Anthony Ryan's male look , that shirt dress is just calling my name!
